ShareX for Mac

I have been using ShareX for a long time now in my day to day for screen captures and gif recordings on Windows. As a front-end developer marking up a screenshot, or creating a gif of what the app is doing is a great way to communicate to other developers or product owners what that pesky bug is doing (Fair warning if you haven’t heard of ShareX before and want to use it, I would recommend disabling the upload feature in advanced settings, in case you catch something in a screenshot that you don’t want the world to see). Unfortunately, ShareX is not available for mac So I needed to find an alternative.

Enter CleanShot X , this is the only alternative I have found that holds up to the tall standards ShareX has set for Windows. ⚠ It is not free! I know having to pay for software is where I will lose a lot of you, but if you use this tool as much as I have in a professional environment it is worth every penny. At the time of writing this it costs $30 USD for the app, 1 year of updates, and 1TB of cloud storage (for uploaded images/videos with shareable links). After the first year, you can continue to receive updates for a lower price. I don’t plan on using the cloud services at this time, but I may find a use case in the future.
